First Day Shooting

INITIAL SHOTS, CENTRAL HEREFORD, THE BEGINNING

After reviewing the initial test shots of the boxers, we contacted individuals throughout central Hereford to have their portraits taken. Given the circumstances, we had to arrange specific appointments and timings to ensure it was safe and within all government guidelines. The day began in central high town photographing Ruby, Paigon and Lola outside The Black and White House Museum. We then ventured down to Close House, a youth centre nearby, to meet Charley and Ollie and hear their thoughts about living in Herefordshire. Following these, we headed down near the river to photograph a musician, Molly, and a dancer, Becky. It was very interesting hearing how accessible their hobbies are living here, especially learning about the lack of venues for musicians like Molly who wish to showcase their music. Our next subject Brandan also had similar views being a hip hop artist from Herefordshire.

Travelling to Bartestree was our next destination to visit Emily, a student at Hartpury College. Her portrait was taken at the stable yard where she keeps her horses and it was a completely different experience to the portraits I had taken in central Hereford, including the challenge of having to photograph her surrounded by the horses - our first proper ‘rural’ photo!

We then concluded the day with Evie and Yanotai back in Hereford. As well as Harvey, a poet and a writer who is contributing to the P.O.V. project with his poetry. This can be found on the Rural Media’s Instagram page.
