P.O.V.
OPPORTUNITY, CIRCUMSTANCES, ASPIRATIONS
Currently, I am supposed to be working on the other side of the world making the most of my gap year. However, like many things this year, that has been temporarily delayed and I have been lucky enough to find a new opportunity in Hereford working with Rural Media. P.O.V., an acronym for ‘point of view’, is a brand new project with an aim to demonstrate the diversity of ‘rural young people’ and how this compares to public perception.
I am facilitating a creative consultation with young people by taking their portraits in a range of locations within Herefordshire. With portraits being taken to display each individual’s ‘point of view’, we will learn about their experiences, thoughts and feelings on living in Herefordshire. My role within this project will largely involve photographing each young person’s portrait and interviewing them whilst also researching wider Herefordshire to create a rationale for the photographs. During this experience, I hope to extend my photography skills and learn more about what Herefordshire has to offer from the perspective of young people. I am also interested to learn more about the benefits of being self-employed and what is involved. This website is a new platform for me to document my work and discoveries throughout this project with behind the scenes photographs of the locations we have visited.
